Are you an early adopter? Did you hop on the organic mattress bandwagon the first time it passed by? Are you reading blogs about organic mattresses in the hopes of definitively nailing down whether you made the right or the wrong choice? If your answer to any of these questions is “yes,” we can help. (And this is an even better place to be if all your answers are “no”!)

If you’re not sure about the mattress you bought…

This one is easy. How are you sleeping? If you’ve replaced your mattress and are cozy comfortable and waking up rested and pain-free, stop stressing! You made a great choice. If you’re NOT getting a good night’s sleep, don’t spend another night thinking about what went wrong. Call the store and ask about their return policy if you don’t already know the details. Your bed should last a decade; so replacing the wrong new mattress is totally worth the extra effort.

If you’re a happy early adopter…

Start Conversations

Believe it or not, lots of people are thinking about things that do not include organic certification or whether their mattresses are off-gassing. If you wish more people paid attention to all of their purchases, especially the big ones, then you’re the perfect person to raise the issue. If toxins and organic options aren’t invisible to you, don’t let them be missing from your conversations.

Respond with Relevance

You’ve seen the internet. There are a lot of ill-informed conversations out there. As with everything under the sun, there’s a whole spectrum of positive and negative points about organic bedding. We’re just happy that there’s a lively conversation. Be the change you wish to see in the world and resist stirring the pot. Share your experience. Answer questions. Be honest. Your contribution will be exponentially more impactful that way.

Give the experience.

There’s nothing better for substantiating word-of-mouth claims and online reviews than personal experience. If you believe in the future of organic mattresses, get excited about it. When appropriate, make your friends check out your new bed. Put an organic mattress in your guest bedroom. Or just encourage others to consider the option when they’re in the market for a new mattress. Converting a conventional consumer to an organic consumer is a tiny, personal way to make a difference in the world.

If you’re not sure yet…

Still in the hunt for the perfect mattress and considering organic? Even if you like the idea of organic bedding but won’t buy it until the technology improves, you can still get involved.

Ask Questions

Not sure what to think about organic mattresses? Most people aren’t. The best thing to do is be smart in general as you shop. Know what you need and what you want. Know your budget. Ask questions in the context of those important criteria. Make sure that the person you’re talking to genuinely knows about the things you’re asking about. At A Goodnight Sleepstore, we have sleep experts, and you can visit them in our North & South Carolina stores, or you can talk to them online – any time and from anywhere! If you’re not sure which mattress to choose, lay around on new ones until you feel you’ve found “the one”. And then ask questions until you run out!

Seek and Find

If you really want to seriously consider making your next mattress an organic one, you’re going to have to find some organic mattresses. You should lay on each one for several minutes to really get a feel for it. An even better way to experience an organic mattress than lounging around a store is to seek them out when you travel. Hotels have just begun to replace conventional mattresses with organic ones. With AirBnB, the mattress-sampling world is your oyster. Getting a whole night’s sleep or two on your prospective mattress of choice could help you feel totally confident about your final decision.

Avoid Buyer’s Remorse

If going green is a consideration for you, make sure you go to a store that carries organic options. They’re often more comfortable and less expensive than shoppers are expecting. No matter what kind of mattress you’re interested in, but especially if you’re going organic, make sure you shop at stores that have awesome mattress return policies. In the case that you do lose sleep over making the wrong decision, you’ll be glad you kept open the option of changing your mind
